The "Working Group for the Artificial Intelligence Usage Guide in Geographic Information Systems," established by the General Directorate of Geographic Information Systems of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, completed its work on 20 August 2026. GIS–AI governance, data management, quality assurance, model development, validation, and lifecycle management were addressed comprehensively.

Executives from Türksat's R&D unit visited our Center on 1 July 2026. During the meeting, we agreed to collaborate on knowledge exchange and international projects.

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, delivered a seminar entitled "AI-Based Analysis and Predictive Model Development in Medicine" at TOBB ETÜ Faculty of Medicine on 10 June 2026. The impacts of artificial intelligence in healthcare and other fields were addressed comprehensively from multiple perspectives.

Prof. Dr. Jehanzaib Islam, Vice Pro-Rector of Grand Asian University Sialkot, Pakistan, visited our Center on 4 June 2026. During the meeting, we agreed to collaborate on joint projects and knowledge exchange.

At the conference entitled "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation," jointly organized by Mingachevir State University, the Azerbaijan Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, Gazi University, the Azerbaijan National Cybersecurity Center, and Düzce University on 18–19 May 2026, our Center Director Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol delivered a presentation entitled "The Future of Artificial Intelligence Technologies."

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, served as Conference Co-Chair at the "5th International Conference on Computer Engineering, Technologies and Applications," held on 27–29 April 2025.

At the "5th International Conference on Computer Engineering, Technologies and Applications," our Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Demirci chaired the session entitled "Computer Theory and Technology" on 27 April 2025.

Our Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Demirci and Advisory Board Member Dr. Altuğ Çil appeared as guests on TRT Radio 1’s Çevrimiçi program and shared their views on "Next-Generation Digital Forensics in Smart Networks."

Our Center organized the panel entitled "Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence" on 12 May 2026. The panel emphasized that artificial intelligence is not merely a technological issue, but a multidimensional transformation affecting ethics, law, healthcare, philosophy, and social order. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol stated that artificial intelligence would lead to a transformation greater than the invention of electricity and noted that, for the first time in human history, we are facing systems capable of learning, making decisions, and translating those decisions into action autonomously. He stressed that defining the boundaries within which this technology should be used is critically important for the future of humanity. He also identified explainable AI, data security and privacy, algorithmic bias, distortion of the perception of reality, and accountability among the most critical challenges of the future.
The panel, moderated by Prof. Dr. M. Ali Ergün, evaluated artificial intelligence comprehensively from the perspectives of different disciplines:
Prof. Dr. Perihan Elif Ekmekçi emphasized from a bioethics perspective that artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare systems and human perception, and that human dignity, autonomy, privacy, and ethical oversight must be protected.
Prof. Dr. Zeynep Şafak Teksin discussed the advantages of artificial intelligence in personalized medicine and drug development while drawing attention to data security, algorithmic neutrality, and medical liability.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Dombaycı discussed from a philosophical perspective how artificial intelligence could weaken human moral responsibility and the status of humans as "ethical agents," with particular emphasis on the "responsibility gap" problem.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Güllüoğlu emphasized the importance of data protection, legal liability, and regulatory frameworks in artificial intelligence and raised the question of whether AI could become a "legal person" in the future.
Dr. Altuğ Çil evaluated the effects of generative artificial intelligence on academic production, originality, plagiarism, and intellectual responsibility, stressing the need to develop ethical guidelines and institutional policies.
The panel also highlighted that outputs generated by artificial intelligence algorithms are increasingly prompting people to ask, "Is what I see real?", "Is what I hear real?", and "Is what I read real?" This provided a basis for an interdisciplinary discussion on both the future of technology and the future of humanity. The panel concluded that artificial intelligence should be addressed not only in terms of efficiency or technological progress, but also within the framework of human rights, social trust, ethical responsibility, and human-centered values.

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, delivered a seminar entitled "AI-Based Analysis and Predictive Model Development in Medicine" at the Gazi Geriatrics Meetings 2026 conference organized by our University’s Faculty of Medicine on 6 May 2026.

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, delivered a training session entitled "Use of Artificial Intelligence in Branding: Efficiency and Legal Risk" at the ATO International Ankara Brand Meetings Conference on 25 April 2026.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammadismoil Mahmudov, Rector of the University of Management and Future Technologies of Uzbekistan, together with Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Asror Muhamedov, Dr. Bahadır Musametov, Dr. Bahtiyor Nosirov, and Dr. Fakhranda Afandi, visited our Center on 24 April 2026. During our meeting with the Uzbek delegation, it was agreed to collaborate on joint projects and knowledge exchange.

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, delivered a seminar entitled "Autonomous Medical Systems: Robotic Systems and Artificial Intelligence" to the academic staff of our University’s Faculty of Dentistry on 21 April 2026.

At the 1st International Gazi Nursing Research Congress on 17 April 2026, our Center Director Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol delivered a seminar entitled "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Research" as part of the panel "Artificial Intelligence Support in Research: Opportunity, Threat, or Transformation?"

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, delivered a seminar entitled "Artificial Intelligence and the Defense Industry" at the National Defence University on 15 April 2026.

Our Deputy Director, Prof. Dr. Murat Dörterler, delivered a seminar entitled "Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: Applications, Opportunities, and Challenges" to the academic staff of our University’s Faculty of Pharmacy on 10 March 2026.

Our Center organized the panel entitled "The Effects of Artificial Intelligence on the Defense Industry," featuring Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR as a speaker, on 25 December 2025. The panel addressed scientific research opportunities in defense for academics, AI-based innovative product-development approaches for industry representatives, and career opportunities and entrepreneurial potential in defense for university students.

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, participated as a keynote speaker at the IEEE 9th International Conference on Information Technology, Information Systems and Electrical Engineering (ICITISEE) on 15 December 2025 and delivered a presentation entitled "Artificial Intelligence Technologies of the Future." Current AI technologies, opportunities, risks, and the global AI market were evaluated.

Our Center's Advisory Board Meeting was held on 28 November 2025. Advisory Board members were informed about the activities carried out in 2025 and their recommendations were received. Work has begun in line with the recommendations obtained.

Our Center Director, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol, participated as an invited speaker in an event organized by Karadeniz Technical University on 26 November 2025 and delivered a seminar entitled "The Future of Artificial Intelligence Technologies: Where Intelligence and Imagination Intersect." The presentation addressed current AI technologies, forward-looking projections for the national and global AI markets, and the steps required to prepare for the AI era.

An article by our Center Director Prof. Dr. M. Ali Akcayol entitled "Multidimensional Effects of Defense Industry Development" was published in the November 2025 issue of A5 Defense Industry Magazine, which reaches 142 countries with each issue. The article presents a multidimensional analysis of the effects of the defense industry on education, the economy, politics, and social and cultural fields.

The "Working Group on Developing Value-Added Products from Geospatial Data with Artificial Intelligence," established by the General Directorate of Geographic Information Systems of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and chaired by our Center, completed its two-month study on 3 October 2025. The study comprehensively addressed AI and geospatial-data integration, application areas of geospatial-data-driven AI, existing geospatial-data-based applications in Türkiye, challenges and constraints that may be encountered in the use of AI by public institutions, and requirements for developing value-added products from geospatial data using AI.

Our Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Dörterler exchanged knowledge with academics from different countries at the International Conference on Sustainability organized within the scope of the TIME2ACT@SD project.

Within the scope of the project entitled "Integration of Digital Learning and Teaching Tools into Nursing Education," supported by TÜBİTAK 2237, our Center provided training to the academic staff of Gazi University Faculty of Nursing on 10 September 2025.

On 11 July 2025, our Center Director provided Anadolu Agency with an assessment of large language models, with particular reference to Grok. Information was provided on the main reasons why large language models may generate inappropriate content, together with assessments regarding the development of a national large language model.

At the 44th Congress of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering, our Center Director chaired the session themed "Machine Learning" on 25 June 2025.

Dr. Fakhranda Afandi, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Khazar University, Azerbaijan; Dr. Gunel Bahaddinova, Dean of the Faculty of Science; and Prof. Dr. Fariz Hasanli, Faculty Member in the Department of Computer Engineering, visited our Center on 16 June 2025. During our meeting with Dr. Fakhranda Afandi and the delegation, we agreed to collaborate on joint projects, knowledge exchange, academic staff exchange, and education.

On 30 May 2025, our Center provided in-service training entitled "Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Applications" to our University’s academic and administrative staff. Participants from different academic and administrative units of Gazi University were informed about current AI research and applications, jobs likely to disappear and emerging occupations in the near future, and the steps required to prepare for the AI era.

In the presentation entitled "The Future of Artificial Intelligence Technologies," delivered by our Center at the İrem Bozan Artificial Intelligence Symposium organized by Çankırı Karatekin University on 23 May 2025, current AI research, opportunities and risks in AI, jobs likely to disappear and emerging occupations, forward-looking projections for global and national AI markets, and preparations required for the AI era were addressed.

At the 44th Congress of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering, our Center Director chaired the session themed "Machine Learning" on 25 June 2025.

Our Center provided mentoring support for the G³ (Young Gazi Entrepreneurs) Business Idea Competition organized by Gazi University. Business idea owners received training to help them develop more effective project ideas and support commercialization efforts. Awards were presented to the winners at a ceremony held on 21 May 2025.

Our Center provided mentoring support for the Ideathon on "Artificial Intelligence Applications in Healthcare," jointly organized by Gazi University and Ankara Medipol University on 17 May 2025. Contestants received project mentoring and training to help them develop more effective project ideas and improve their presentation skills.

Our Center Director participated as an invited speaker at the "4th International Conference on Advanced Technologies, Computer Engineering and Science," organized by Karabük University on 12–14 May 2025, and delivered a talk entitled "Beyond Human Intelligence: The Age of Artificial Superintelligence." Artificial superintelligence was addressed comprehensively, including the preparations required for the superintelligence era and the associated opportunities and risks.

Our Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Dörterler participated in the workshop "Sustainability in Action: A Hands-on Bootcamp for Impactful Learning," hosted by Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Belgium on 12–16 May 2025 as part of the Erasmus+ TIME2ACT@SD project. During the event, he exchanged knowledge with academics from different countries on climate change, social responsibility, the circular economy, and digital gamification.

The AI'2Sec event, organized by the Artificial Intelligence Community and supported by our Center, was held on 7–8 May 2025. In the opening speech delivered by our Center, information was provided on the development and current state of artificial intelligence.

At the 4th International Public Health Nursing Congress organized by our University’s Faculty of Nursing on 16–18 April 2025, our Center delivered a presentation entitled "Security and Ethical Issues in the Use of Digital Technologies in Healthcare." Information was provided on applications of current AI technologies in healthcare and their potential transformative effects on the sector in the near future.

At the Information Technologies Day Panel organized by the Republic of Türkiye State Railways on 28 February 2025, our Center delivered a presentation entitled "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Transportation Sector." Information was provided on current application areas of AI technologies in transportation and their potential effects on the sector in the near future.

The AI'4Youth event, organized by the Artificial Intelligence Community and supported by our Center, was held on 5 December 2024. In the opening speech delivered by our Center, information was provided on the past and future of artificial intelligence.

At the 3rd Application and Research Centers Workshop organized by our University on 2 December 2024, a presentation was delivered on our Center’s research, project, training, seminar, and event activities.

At the conference entitled "Green World and Cyber Future," jointly organized by Gazi University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Mingachevir State University, and Baku Business University on 2–3 December 2024, our Center delivered a presentation entitled "Deep Learning Architectures."

At the panel entitled "Digital Competencies and Artificial Intelligence for the Teachers of the Future," organized by Gazi Faculty of Education on 25 November 2024, our Center delivered a presentation entitled "The Future of Teaching and Learning with Artificial Intelligence."

At the 7th ASELSAN Academy Workshop, held on 19–20 November 2024 with the participation of academics from Gazi University, METU, ITU, and Gebze Technical University, a presentation was delivered on the activities and projects carried out at our Center.

On 18 November 2024, our Center delivered a seminar entitled "Transformation in Healthcare: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Future Trends" to students of our University’s Faculty of Nursing.
